Random Facts about our Pastor of Adult Ministries…

Senor Roberto:

-is the husband of Candi* (married in December of ’88) and the father of 5 children (2 who are married, and one of them has a daughter who “Gigi” can’t get enough of).  Erie Pa was home for most of his decades of sucking oxygen on planet earth.

-Studied Christian Education and Bible at Messiah College, and began studying (23 credits) with Trinity Evangelical Divinity School until the funding dried up.

-Searched for 3 years for a Pastor position of Discipleship, College ministry and/or Small groups in the Middle States or down south (where there is more sunshine) before the Most High “gave” green lights to move farther north.  (Before the move to Pure Michigan, he worked Full time as a Counselor at a Residential Treatment Facility for 20 years with Adolescent males who had mental illnesses, criminal charges, and/or were so out of control that Mommy and Daddy weren’t able to control them any longer).

-Certified Trainer for SonLife’s “4 Chair” and “Foundations” trainings.

-Hates the cold.

-Used to love playing Basketball, Volleyball, Racketball, and Ultimate Frisbee before his earthsuit began “talking back,” and making him pay for it for several days.

-served with Youth for Christ 5 years full-time and 15 years part time (including ministry at the local Detention center).

-also discipled youth and college students for several Church ministries.

-Is one of a handful of Americans who hates coffee (even the smell of it). I wrestle with the root of bitterness at watching it being served at every event, everywhere whilst rarely being able to indulge in Hot Chocolate (a far superior drink).

-Hates long, cold, dark winters (I look forward every year to emerging from my seasonal affective “slump.”)

-Loves helping people develop wholehearted commitment to being a disciple of Jesus who makes disciples.

*Candi has been a Substitute Teacher for many years, and ran an after-school program (which provided a meal and activities for students in the city of Erie, Pa).  She always ends up being the best sub in the school (unbiased opinion). She cares about the students, and goes the extra mile everyday. Teachers frequently request her.

She was a volunteer staff with the (Youth for Christ) City Life Club where she discipled the young ladies, helping them learn what it means to follow Jesus. She also lead a Bible Study for Young Adult ladies. She loves helping take care of our first grandchild, Addy, and frequently makes meals for people in need of practical Agape love for the stomach.
